MSN Messenger
A very nice MSN compatible messenger application. Works pretty much like its Windows based counterpart. Perfect for keeping in touch with those friends who have not yet seen the light.

I keep this installed in case I'm having trouble with Emesene but that's it. The interface is horrible and slow. Rather than just being ugly, which I can tolerate, it's actually bad enough that it interferes with usability.
That said, I'm giving it the same rating as Emesene because it delivers on features. Very fast transfers and working (albeit difficult) video chatting.

I use it on ubuntu 9.10, I agree with Ramsey it is very slow, it freezes alot, but it's the closest thing to a windows live based messanger that is on linux, the other ones run smoother tho, example gaim, pidgin, empaphy, but none of them have good webcam support...I want the developers to improve it cuz it's a really good program, if it ran seamless that would be the best thing ever, especially with cam.

I have previously used this on the Windows Vista platform and am currently using it on all of my PCs running Kubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx). Up until now I have had a good overall experience and have recommended it to my friends. I utilize the plugin feature as well as the ability to edit the images for a theme directly, which is very convenient say somebody wanted to create a personalized modification of one theme in particular without having to go to the extreme of re-building an entire theme package. Great program!
