CD & DVD Burning - CD writing program
A sophisticated KDE CD burning application K3b is a GUI frontend to the CD recording programs cdrdao and cdrecord. Its aim is to provide a very user friendly interface to all the tasks that come with cd recording.
It can be used to copy CDs and burn:
- audio CDs (from wav, mp3 or ogg vorbis files)
- data CDs and DVDs
- mixed-mode CDs (CD-Extra support)
- VCDs (1.1, 2.0 and SVCD)
- ISO files (Joliet/Rockridge and El Torito support)
- eMovix CDs

Rip to MP3? Burn MP3? The extracodecs do'nt work and even do'nt show in Settings>Plugins!

Hosed in Ubuntu 9.10. Cannot handle mp3s, even with extracodecs installed.
One major failing that keeps me from moving completely to Ubuntu.

I retract my last statement - they just changed the name of the Ubuntu package (again!) that you need for mp3 support (note other applications can play mp3s, but K3B needs it's own very special library).
sudo apt-get install k3b libk3b6-extracodecs
