GTK+ front-end for snes9x snes9express is a graphical front-end for the X11 version of snes9x. It presents many of the common snes9x options in an easy-to-use interface. snes9express can also save profiles if you'd like to be able to load up one of your favourite set of options on the fly.

Do you know what can I do to save the state? I cannot find the snes in-game menu!

I am looking for a way to assign keys to the keyboard. The keys I use I had to find by pressing every one. I think a couple of keyboard keys correspond to the same controller key. Any help would be appreciated!

Save states (called snapshots) and key configuration are both possible via the snes9express frontend.
Incidentally, does anyone know the shortcut for taking screenshots with snes9express?
